Berlin-Rheinsberger-Kompositionspreis goes to Alexandra Filonenko, fellow in 2007–2008
The freelance composer und former fellow Alexandra Filonenko was recently awarded with the Berlin-Rheinsberger-Kompositionspreis, already for the second time. 2004 and 2018 the composer, who lives in Berlin received the prize which is endowed with 10 000 Euro. In addition, the winner gets the opportunity of a 4000 Euro endowed eight-week work stay at the Musikakademie Rheinsberg to focus on new compositions. Alternatively, she can spend six months at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and use the Berlin Studio as a work space.
In 2018 the Berlin-Rheinberger-Kompositionspreis is awarded for the 13th time by the cultural administration of Berlin and the Musikakademie Rheinsberg to a composer of contemporary music. The central idea of the prize is on one hand to recognize the existing Oeuvre of a female composer and on the other hand it is supposed to support further projects. The prize is supposed to award, honor and encourage female, professional working composers and help to increase their presence in the public.
Alexandra Filonenko was a fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2007/2008 in the discipline of music/sound.
