ART COACHING

A project within the art, science & business program.
Initiated by Prof. Dr. Olaf Bach, corporate consultant, guest professor at the Weißensee-Kunsthochschule Berlin, and former fellow of the Akademie.

Concept

The project »Art Coaching« aims to support artists and creatives in the commercial distribution of their ideas and projects. For this purpose, selected creatives and business people will be associated: Coachees from the creative sector present their project ideas and business practitioners operate as coaches and provide their knowledge in mastering business challenges.

 

In contrast to the often abstract academic education of economists, the coaching relationship aims at developing a specific project with a concrete mutual interest of the involved participants. This ensures that coachee and coach can discuss the practical relevance and the necessary details of the project production. Commercial project ideas from all artistic fields are welcome, however, the possibility of a wider economic distribution is more likely in the fields of design (e.g. industrial or fashion design) and architecture.

 

Project Scope

Coachees and coaches will work together for a period of nine months. The quality of the artistic project, its possible realization, and economic exploitation will be relevant for the selection process of the interdisciplinary jury which consists of experts from the fields of economy, arts, and culture. They will select the participants and initiate matches between four »pairs« during an opening event at the end of March 2013. After the first six months, a mid-term workshop will take place in September 2013. The final meeting will be in December 2013. Exact dates will be announced soon. All meetings will take place at Akademie Schloss Solitude. Travel costs and catering will be covered. 

 

Application

Artists and creatives are invited to apply with a concrete and plausible project concept. The application should also include a motivation letter and a current CV.

People from the business field who are interested in coaching should ideally have several years of work experience in management, consulting, or entrepreneurship. Their application should include a current CV. 

A crucial requirement for participation is the commitment to the mutual project and the interest in actively maintaining a close coaching relationship during the project period.
