16. Architecture Biennale Venice | Akademie alumni represented
These days some former fellows of the Akademie Schloss Solitude are represented at the Architecture Biennale 2018 in Venice. Nomeda and Gediminas Urbonas, who were fellows in 2002 in the discipline visual arts, curated the Lithuanian Pavilion, presenting works of the former fellows Thomas Pausz (design, 2012) and Lina Lapelyte (performing arts, 2016/2017) amongst others. Rirkrit Tiravanija who was a juror from 2005 until 2007 in the discipline of visual arts is also part of the Lithuanian Pavilion exhibition. Matilde Cassani (architecture, 2010/2011) presents her work in the Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion.
Former fellow Dubravka Sekulić’s (2008) work is shown in the Pavilion of Japan as well as the constructions of Florian Goldmann who was a Solitude fellow in 2015. In the Polish Pavilion visitors can inter alia discover the work presentation of the design group Centrala with Malgorzata Kuciewicz (2015) and Simone De Iacobis (Eastern European Network, 2015). The Pavilion of the Netherlands shows works of Beatriz Colomina who was the juror for architecture in 2009–2011, as well as designs of the future fellow Victor Muñoz Sanz, who will arrive at the Akademie in August 2019.
