Ensemble SurPlus plays works by Summer Academy participants
The Akademie Schloss Solitude organizes a master class for young composers for the third time this summer. The upcoming Summer Academy takes place from August 3 to 19, 2007. The Summer Academy focus is working on and discussing the compositions of 16 participants as well as compositional theory. Individual instruction, group work and evening presentations of the composers for the group will also take place. Besides instructors Chaya Czernowin and Steven Kazuo Takasugi, Ole Lützow-Holm is a guest instructor this year.
At the conclusion of the Summer Academy on August 18 and 19, a new generation of composers will be introduced. On both concert evenings, the Freiburg Ensemble SurPlus perform compositions by the master class participants.

Ensemble SurPlus, founded in 1992 in Freiburg under the direction of James Avery, has worked closely with the Akademie Schloss Solitude since 1994. The year it was founded, the Ensemble was invited to the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. The world premiere of a chamber opera during the Archipel Festival in Geneva – which was well-received by the press – followed. Since then the Ensemble has performed throughout Europe as well as in Asia and in North America.
Admission: 7 Euro (4,50 Euro) at the door.
The Summer Academy is supported by the Ernst von Siemens music foundation and the Ministry for Science, Research and Art of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
