Akademie Schloss Solitude and Merz Akademie Stuttgart – Hochschule für Gestaltung, Kunst und Medien are cordially inviting you to the screening of the documentary Poets of Life by the Iranian filmmaker Shirin Barghnavard. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.
Poets of Life is a portrait of the life of Shirin Parsi – rice farmer, environmentalist and activist. Director Shirin Barghnavard accompanied Parsi for more than a year in the rice production, from rearing to harvesting to further processing. As a dedicated environmentalist and activist, and as a member of the National Association of Entrepreneurship, Parsi defends her family business from the government officials in Tehran, and from the country’s deregulated markets.
Shirin Barghnavard is a documentary filmmaker and editor. Among others she realized Profession: Documentarist (2014), Scenes from a Divorce (2015) and Poets of Life (2017). In her documentary films, Shirin Barghnavard combines general social issues with specific research on the role of women in the society.
