What does it mean to cite in the age of hyperlinks, hashtags, and hidden infrastructures? How can citation move beyond mere attribution – and become a way of thinking, relating, resisting? Might the act of citing itself be reimagined as a practice of care, of connection, of disruption? These and other questions set the tone for the 20th Web Residency call entitled »Tools for Citation.«
Developed over the past months, the six selected works engage with citation as a poetic, political, and material practice. Through interfaces, sound, text, movement, and visual media, they explore how knowledge is sourced, situated, shared. Across all works runs a shared interest in the visible and invisible infrastructures that shape our collective memory.
We warmly invite you to join the public online launch of the 20th Web Residencies »Tools for Citation« on May 9, 2025, at 4 pm CEST. This special event with the curators and jurors of this call, Mindy Seu and Charles Broskoski, brings together the six selected fellows to share insights into their projects and creative processes, developed during their Web Residency over the past months. At the launch, the artists will present their projects in diverse formats – ranging from live readings and demonstrations to performative walks, deep dives, guided meditations and Q&As. Their contributions open space for experimental thinking on how we trace origins, acknowledge influences, and cultivate multiplicity in digital culture.
An der Veranstaltung nehmen teil Anisha Baid, Anne Braune, Hyunseo Cho, khokhoi (mary alinney villacastin), Devin Kenny und Shaheer Tarar.
Together with Mindy Seu, Charles Broskoski, and Sarah Donderer.
The event will take place on Zoom.
