MAPPING THE SPACE – Exhibition

The exhibition “Mapping the Space” plays with the categories of measuring, recording,
categorizing and mapping as a way of dealing with spatial situations. Therefore,
MAPPING would always be a first step of discovering and claiming a place, so the basic
idea is to illustrate the fellows various mapping approaches. Not in order to articulate a
definition of Römerstraße as just another exhibition space, but to show how you could
sense, describe and give some meaning to a certain space.
One might encounter it as an extension or projection of the Akademie in analyzing
the similarities between them, someone else might examine the treasure box qualities
of that isolated room within the gripping history of the building – the approaches are
diverse and accessible through social, historical, architectural views, through sound,
objects, videos, pictures and drawings.
An exhibition with works by Manuel Ferrari, Kai Franz, Lindsay Foster, Nicolas Mondon, Robert M. Ochshorn, Peter Müller, Silvia Rosani, Hanae Utamura and coordinated by Claudia Gehre
DJ set by Sinethemba Twalo
