On April 29, 2021 at 7.30 pm, Akademie Schloss Solitude together with SALOON London and SALOON Dresden as well as with Netzwerk Medienkunst Dresden will present a hybrid tour of the exhibition »Molecular Minds // Monstrous Matters« with the artists Johanna Bruckner, Jan Nikolai Nelles, Natasha Tontey and the curator Mara-Johanna Kölmel who is also co-founder of SALOON London. Please click here to register.
The SALOON network fosters a community within the art world that shares ideas, experiences, and expertise, and encourages collaborations and projects. SALOON London is a network for women (identifying and non-binary) in the London art world. It was founded in 2019 by Natalia Fuller and Mara-Johanna Kölmel with Mariana Lemos joining the board in 2020. SALOON Dresden was founded in 2019 and is organised by Ursula Susanne Buchart, Maren Marzilger and Nina Fischäss with the aim of strengthening the visibility of female actors in Saxony’s art and cultural landscape as well as initiating new projects, exhibitions and other forms of collaboration.
The SALOON Network actively collaborates with other communities to promote inclusion, exchange, understanding, and trust between diverse, international networks of arts practitioners and to create equal opportunities for women in their local art scene. The focus is on working towards an inclusive, equal, intersectional and anti-racist art world. Its headquarters are in Berlin, where curator Tina Sauerlaender founded the first SALOON in 2012.
The (online) exhibition »Molecular Minds // Monstrous Matters« brings together the works of six artists and former Solitude fellows, online and offline. The artistic interventions shown in the exhibition question and critically engage with heteronormative worldviews around consciousness research, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and self-experience.
»Molecular Minds // Monstrous Matters« takes place in cooperation with the Netzwerk Medienkunst Dresden as part of the exhibition »Mind Over Matter« at Technische Sammlungen Dresden. Please visit the show via our Digital Solitude Online Space: https://webresidencies.akademie-solitude.de/mmmm/.
