Exodus – Skype-Performance by Li Lorian
The artist Li Lorian deals with the mother tongue of refugees and analyzes how different, foreign influences change the language.
The artist Li Lorian deals with the mother tongue of refugees and analyzes how different, foreign influences change the language.
In her Skype-Performance Li Lorian traces the travel routes of refugees and migrants. She examines what happens to the mother tongue when people don’t life in their home country for a longer period of time and furthermore includes historic and political dimensions. Therefore, she explores the consequences of the Jewish Exodus from Europe during the Second World War, the Palestinian Exodus in 1948 after the formation of the State of Israel and she talks to Palestinians born in Syria, who flee for the second time.
