Kostis Velonis Precision German Craftsmanship
The title was borrowed from a poem by the American poet Matthew Rohrer, in which he describes his ideas of German craftsmanship, especially with regards to the proverbial German thoroughness and precision. Kostis Velonis plays with this idea and intentionally creates crafts which are not based on such values. The smoothness and polish of typical design products are substituted by scratching on the raw surfaces and the aspect of deterioration and collapse of the cultural object. Most of the surfaces of these objects remain dirty, smudgy and stained, offering their own narratives.
Georges Senga Assani Cette maison n’est pas à vendre et à vendre
With his photographs Georges Senga Assani picks up conflict situations, that occur in his home country within heritage disputes or bankrupt. What happens with the personal property of people, whose ownership suddenly becomes unclear and what impacts do these conflicts have on the cohabitation in a family or a community.
