Ben Hooker
»Good Living in Mixed Reality«
The multimedia designer Ben Hooker primarily works with interactive technologies. He is interested in visualizing forms of overlapping between ephemeral electronic data and solid material. His newest work speculates on the emergence of new spaces for living, which evolve through constant technological innovations in telecommunications and information technology. The results of his explorations are presented in a combination of abstract drawings and concrete design suggestions. The works emerged in cooperation with Shona Kitchen, Ryan Aipperspach and Allison Woodruff.
As a designer, Ben Hooker (*1974 in Great Britain) moves between artistic practice, instruction/research and consulting. In 1997 he received his Masters of Arts in computer design at the Royal College of Art in London. He has long realized artistic projects with Shona Kitchen; their newest works are an electronic installation that was realized in several locations in San José (the project occurred under the auspices of the local airport) as well as an apartment project presented in cooperation with the Vitra Design Museum in the Art Center Pasadena, California. Hooker is a 2006-7 Akademie fellow.

Herbert Stattler
»Sup.Supri.Suprema, Familie«
The fellowship that Viennese architect Herbert Stattler did five years ago at Solitude took his professional life onto new paths – since then, Stattler has been active as an artist and employs techniques in his work, which he has mastered in building architecture models. The diptych »sup.supri.supreme, familie« consists of a three-dimensional image of glue, paper and cardboard as well as from photographs of a latex form of this wall sculpture. In an encrypted form, Stattler draws a complex image of the relationships between his relatives, drawing upon the tradition of concrete art with his geometric language.
Herbert Stattler (*1966 in Vienna, Austria) worked from 1998 to 2004 as a freelance architect. During this period, he realized numerous innovative architectural projects in collaboration with Judith Augustinovic under the name as_architecture. Since 2004 he has worked as a freelance artist. Stattler has received numerous fellowships and prizes. He was an Akademie fellow in 2002-3.

Claudia Stebler
»Many Paths Lead to Jewelry«
The certified goldsmith Claudia Stebler mixes her training as a jewelry designer with the rich trove of experience culled from her time in New York, Halifax and Cairo. Combining design and sensitivity, she weaves daily impressions and found objects into valuable talismans that acquire very personal messages. Playful representations of her fantasy world are also on view in photographs and video clips. The catalog »Hello, I’m wearable/portable«, published by merz&solitude, accompanies the exhibition.
Claudia Stebler (*1970 in Basel, Switzerland) expanded her horizons after being classically trained as a goldsmith at the Hochschule Pforzheim. Her work connects jewelry and video. Stebler teaches at the design department at the Hochschule Pforzheim, and was an Akademie fellow in 2006.

Hours: Tues-Thurs 10am-noon & 2–5:30pm, Fr 10am-noon & 2-4pm, Sat–Sun noon-5:30pm
