Mica Cabildo and Stephanie Choi
In the vestibule of Guibal-Saal in Akademie Schloss Solitude graphic designer and printmaker Mica Cabildo collaborates with architect Stephanie Choi to create a printed structure. The installation reflects on the cycle of typhoons and the internal turmoil accompanying the external disaster. As the anteroom itself navigates between the interior and exterior, the project takes inspiration from this to explore spaces of transition.
Speaker’s Corner
István Csákány
István Csákány presents his work »Speaker’s Corner« for the first time at Akademie Schloss Solitude. The work combines various media such as performance, sculpture and sound to an expansive and room encompassing installation. His work is based on the documentation of a performance at Bärenschlössle in Stuttgart in the summer of 2014. For this performance, István Csákány asked the Hungarian art critic József Mélyi to develop a text and recite it together with a sculpture by him in the park. The monologue that should motivate the passers by to pause and engage with the performance, deals with the sculpture in public space and the question of what constitutes a monument or what it could be. This performance has been adapted for his installation and focuses in the context of the installation’s exhibition situation at the Akademie on the microcosm of the sculpture and more precisely, on the piece of art in its surrounding and the dialogue between critic and audience.
