Works for solo cello and electronics
During cellist Gavriel Lipkind’s fellowship it seems only fitting to use the unique opportunity for him as musician-in-residence to collaborate with the composers on site. Thus emerged the “The Solitude Cycle”, eight new works for cello (containing some electronic elements) by Noriko Baba (Japan/France), Francesco Filidei (Italy/France), Andrew Hamilton (Ireland/Germany), Éric Marty (USA), Benedikt Schiefer (Germany/Switzerland), Cobi van Tonder (South Africa), Avi Tchamni (Israel/USA) and the juror for music fellows 2005/2007 Kevin Volans (South Africa/Ireland), which will be presented as a premiere during the Ludwigsburg Schloss Festival.
Gavriel Lipkind (*1977 in Tel Aviv) was celebrated as a child prodigy during his Israeli radio debut on the cello at the age of eight. Radio recordings through such broadcasters as ARD (hr, SWR, BR), WGBH Boston followed. As a soloist he has worked with numerous internationally prominent orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic. Lipkind now gives his own cello master classes and is considered one of the top masters of his instrument. Lipkind was an Akademie fellow in 2005/2006.
