The ensemble cross.art’s interdisciplinary project »ohrenaugen« (»eareyes«) unites new instrumental music with short films. Thirteen young composers were each commissioned to compose a soundtrack to one short film by the video artists Yukihiro Taguchi and Malaka Dewapriya (Solitude fellow in 2007/2008). Conversely, two Solitude fellows were given the task of creating video works to accompany existing compositions. Malaka Dewapriya shoots 12 short films to Karlheinz Stockhausen’s composition cycle »Zodiac« and the artist Sonja Füsti (Solitude fellow 2009/2011) dedicates, together with Patrick Hilß, a film work to Nikolaus A. Huber’s piece »clash music«.
The compositions to accompany the films are performed by the Stuttgart group ensemble cross.art with the musicians Saeko Takayama (violin), Nikola Lutz (saxophone), Sun-Min Shim (drums) and Junko Yamamoto (piano). In addition to the compositions by Stockhausen and Huber, the evening features the pieces »Über« by the composer Marta Gentilucci (Solitude Summer Academy fellow in 2005), »Nest« by Noriko Baba (Solitude fellow in 2005/2006) and »Moment 2« by Annesley Catherine Black (Solitude Summer Academy fellow in 2007)
