Thomas Mulcaire

Geboren 1971 in Johannesburg/Südafrika.

Bachelor of Arts in Kunstgeschichte und Literatur an der University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.

Arbeitet als freischaffender Künstler und Kurator.

Er war Ausstellungskoordinator für die Johannesburg Biennale (1995), kuratorischer Assistent an der documenta X und ist Gründer und Leiter des Institute for Contemporary Art in Kapstadt (1999 bis heute).

Ausgewählte Projekte: „Some Polychrome Wood Sculpture“ (Biennale Sao Paulo, 1998), „Johnny“ (mit Craigie Horsfield, Palais des Beaux Arts, Brüssel, 2000), „Noon Day Gun“ (Ars Electronica, Linz, 2002), „Library of Congress“ (mit Joseph Kpobly, South African National Gallery, Cape Town, 2003), „Project for Sydney“ (mit Amanda Rodrigues Alves, Biennale of Sydney, 2004).

Erhielt einen Preis für Bildende Künste vom National Arts Council of South Africa (2003) und ein Forschungs- und Aufenthaltsstipendium vom französischen Ministerium für Kultur und Kommunikation (2004/2005).

Während ihres art, science & business Stipendiums werden Thomas Mulcaire und Marko Peljhan auf der Antarktis an ihrem art & science Projekt „I-TASC. Interpolar Transnational Art Science Constellation“ weiter arbeiten.
